ACHILLES CSM RUBBERISED FABRIC FOR
INFLATABLE CRAFTS

Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene Rubber(CSM), also known as Hypalon, exhibits superior resistance to weather and ozone due to the absence of double bonds in its main chain, unlike EPDM rubber.

This results in long-lasting flexibility and strength even after a decade of outdoor exposure, allowing for vibrant color combinations without the risk of discoloration.

Additionally, it boasts exceptional durability against abrasion, chemicals, heat, oil, and flames, making it ideal for various outdoor applications.

Its unique properties make it unsuitable for heat-seal and welding processes like soft PVC but remains pliable in cold temperatures.

Hypalon finds use in a wide range of applications including ceiling materials for large domes, dish antenna covers, coloured roofing materials, athletic field fence covers, inflatable boats, oil fence outer covers, heat-resistant firefighter suits, emergency protective gear, and protective tape for oil pipelines to shield against UV rays, ozone, oil, sand, and saltwater.

ACHILLES FABRIC

For over 40 years Achilles has been setting the standard for inflatable boat fabric using our customized formula combining tough and airtight elastomer coatings over a heavy duty Nylon or Polyester core fabric. Today, Achilles Fabric continues to set the standard by using an exterior coating of chlorosulphonated polyethylene, or CSM, for its unsurpassed durability and two interior layers of Chloroprene for its remarkable air tightness.

AIRTIGHT TO STAY INFLATED LONGER

Chloroprene is an extremely airtight synthetic rubber with more than 75 years of proven performance in a broad industry spectrum. It was originally developed as an oil-resistant substitute for natural rubber. It is often used in O-rings, seals, and diaphragms due to its low gas permeation qualities. Two internal coating layers of Chloroprene provide outstanding air retention so Achilles inflatable Boats will remain inflated longer.

RESISITING DAMAGE

CSM effectively resists the most common sources of damage to inflatable boats. These range from the weathering effects of the sun’s heat and ultraviolet rays to oil and gasoline spills. It is also extremely abrasion resistant as well being highly resistant to staining and soiling.

Achilles uses only CSM formulated to our own exacting standards to meet the specific demands of inflatable boat fabric. Properties of CSM:
